California leads tech sector payroll at $120 billion

California leads the nation in most technology sector rankings compiled by the Washington D.C.-based TechAmerica Foundation.
The Golden State is first in overall technology employment with nearly 1 million employees in 2012. Calfornia also had the fastest growing number of tech employees in 2012, with 17,700 net tech jobs added since 2011.
The California technology payroll of $120 billion in 2012 also led the nation.
The TechAmerica annual Cyberstates report found that total U.S. technology employment was 5.95 million people in 2012, up 1 percent over the previous year.
