But more than 1,000 voucher holders can’t find a place to live, a report says. And 17,000 others are on a waiting list, said Alison Whyte King, Long Beach Housing Authority bureau manager.
“Our biggest issue is not that people have been waiting a long time for a voucher, but that the people who have been waiting are not able to use it when they get it,” King said Wednesday. “We’ve got some vouchers here that we definitely want to use. The problem is, we can’t get property owners to take them,” she said.
