‘Veep,’ ‘Rosewood’ help boost location filming in Los Angeles County to record quarter

Location filming in Los Angeles County jumped 11 percent in the first quarter of this year over last, thanks in part to a lineup of television shows including “Veep,” “Animal Kingdom,” “Rosewood” and “Twin Peaks,” an industry tracker said Tuesday.

The film sector led the way, with location filming soaring 23.7 percent to 1,145 shoot days as the industry responded to a more robust California Film & Television Tax Credit Program, said FilmL.A., a nonprofit that serves as the film office for the city and county of Los Angeles.

Along with other feature projects, four films retained by the state’s incentive program were in production from January through March, generating 155 shoot days of filming. Those films were “The God Particle,” “Please Stand By,” “Sentence” and “Why Him?”

A shoot day constitutes one calendar day of filming per production.
